ADOR launches global auditions for “all genders and nationalities”

HYBE’s ADOR label, home to rookie NewJeans, has opened global online auditions to the public.

On September 19 at noon KST, the label shared a graphic poster announcing their continued search for talent to join their next acts. Prospective candidates can check their official audition website hereavailable in English, Japanese, Mandarin and Korean.

According to ADOR guidelines, anyone born between 2003 and 2011 can apply for the auditions, which are otherwise open to “all genders and nationalities”.

Applicants can apply in the singing, rapping and dancing categories, or in a “free category” which includes acting, modeling and vlogging. Successful candidates will be contacted individually by the agency.

The label, led by former SM Entertainment artistic director Min Hee-jin, launched five-member girl group NewJeans – including members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein – as its debut act with the music video for their debut single ‘Attention’ in July, rolling out several more tracks in the following weeks.

They then released a self-titled four-track EP featuring two more singles, “Hype Boy” and “Cookie” along with a B-side “Hurt”. In a three-star mixed review of the record, NME’s Carmen Chin wrote that the quintet had “succeeded in laying a solid foundation for a bright future as pioneers”.

In an interview with KoreaJoongAngDaily, Min revealed that some within HYBE thought his concept for the group had been “simple” and lacked “public appeal. “But I didn’t care. I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do and was confident in the music I was choosing,” she said.

Min went on to add that she already had the girl group’s next project in mind, adding, “The members are ready to go on an adventure with me…If things go as planned, [their next release] will also be a very whimsical album.
