“Art for All” at the Plymouth Center for the Arts

PLYMOUTH – At 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North St., a series of speakers will present an interactive program called “Art for All” about the importance of inclusive and community art for people. disabled. people in our community. Speakers have first-hand experience and knowledge of the value of this for everyone in the arts community.

The keynote speaker will be Emily Colson, national speaker, former member of the President’s Committee for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, author and parent. “Dancing with Max” is his bestseller about the joys and challenges of raising autistic son Max. Max is an artist recognized for his colorful hearts that have brightened up construction sites and businesses throughout the South Shore during COVID. They now adorn note cards and onesies with proceeds from sales donated to charity.

The second speaker is Malissa Kenney, Executive Director of Cape Cod Collaborative Arts, CapeCodCAN and Vice President of the Plymouth Bay Cultural District. It expanded the organization’s successful visual, literary, and performing art offerings, officially becoming an outreach program of the Cotuit Art Center. In March 2022, CapeCodCAN launched ‘Saturday Art for Teens and Adults’ and a private ‘Nature of Color’ workshop for members of Plymouth County Family Support at the Plymouth Center for the Arts.

“Art for All” in the community is an important concept that all art centers should embrace. The Plymouth Center for the Arts evening program will include an exhibition of inclusive arts projects and offer more information on how to get involved in Plymouth Center for the Arts Education for All programs.

The Plymouth Center for the Arts is free and open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
