Easter egg hunt
The Rolling Fork Christian Church will host an Easter celebration on Saturday, April 9 starting at 2 p.m. The celebration will include the Easter story, photos with the Easter bunny, an egg hunt, snacks and games and will take place rain or shine. The church is located at 2630 Lyons Station Road; New Haven.


The library will be closed on Monday, April 11 for a staff development day.

Bird story time – See you at the library on April 7 at 11 a.m. for this thematic story hour.

Pinch pots – Amber Gardner will be in the library on April 6 at 3 p.m. to walk participants through the use of air-dry clay. Material provided. Class limited to 14, call to register.

Artist of the month – Friends of the Library will be at the library on April 7 at 4 p.m., followed by eco-artist Damon Barnes at 4:30 p.m.

Read with a Ranger – Spend some time reading with the library on April 8 at 3:30 p.m.

Cook together, eat together – Marla Stillwell will be back at the library on April 14 at 5 p.m. to teach a new recipe. Material provided. Available for children aged 4 to 18 and their parents. Course limited to 6 groups of parents and children. Call to reserve a spot.

Recycling – Jill Gray will be at the library on April 20 at 3:30 p.m. to talk about recycling. No registration necessary.

beekeepers – Terry Hutchins will be at the library on April 21 at 5 p.m. to share his bee exhibit and teach beekeeping to attendees. No registration necessary.
Paper flowers – A class will be offered at the library on April 27 at 3:30 p.m. for teens and adults to learn how to make paper flowers. Material provided. Class limited to 14. Call to reserve a seat.

Damon Barnes — Damon Barnes will be back at the library April 28 at 5 p.m. to talk about native Kentucky reptiles and amphibians. Live specimens. No registration necessary.

Renaissance Recycling – Deposit Days

The Renaissance Recycling Center in Hodgenville will be accepting recycling on Tuesdays in April for specific items only.

tuesday april 12 – Plastic bottles/jars/bowls/containers; 1-7 only, no lids, plastic bags, wrappers, foils or polystyrene. tuesday april 19– Paper products; office paper, junk mail, shredded paper, newsprint, tablecloths and magazines; (no napkins, plates or candy wrappers, coffee filters, bags of popcorn, etc.). tuesday 26 april – Metals; aluminum boxes, separate steel/tin boxes. All food should be rinsed out of these containers. Glass jars and bottles, lids removed, all food must be rinsed from containers. Please sort by color. No glass is accepted. The recycling center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located at 209 E. Water Street in Hodgenville, KY. Applicant Forum
The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce and the LaRue County Agricultural Bureau Board of Directors will host an Applicants Forum at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. Candidates who oppose the May primary are invited to participate. The event will take place in the square in downtown Hodgenville. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Hodgenville Civic Center. For more information, call the House office at 270-358-3411.

Local food pantries

LaRue County Community Action has a giveaway on the third Wednesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the LaRue County Parks and Recreation Building in Hodgenville. This month’s event is April 20. For more information call 270-358-3937 and is a partnership of the LaRue County FFA.

The Hope Pantry at Hodgenville United Methodist Church will have a giveaway on Monday, April 18 at 4 p.m. If you need help before then, please call the church at 270-358-3028.

The pantry of shepherd’s piehosted by Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church, has a giveaway at 3 p.m. every Tuesday.
