Entertainment galore! A musical revue, a live band with songs from the 20s to 90s and a concert in the garden on the menu
STATEN ISLAND, NY – This weekend, Ghostlight Players continues its 2022 season with a musical review “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” which will run for five performances from Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, April 24 at The Hemsley Hall in the Church of St. Andrew, 4 Arthur KIll Rd. in Richmond.
With book and lyrics by Tony Award-winning New Jersey native Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, the production features Staten Island favorites Anna Glenn Sparks, John Griffin, James McKeon , Rina Sklar, Danielle Oliveira and Bobby Vaccaro.
Gary Bradley is the artistic director and musical direction is provided by Andrew Monteleone.
“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” is an award-winning musical about love in the suburbs. The witty script and lyrics feature six actors on a journey through a series of vignettes that explore the trials and tribulations of single life, dating, marriage, loss and grief.
The design team includes Charles Sullivan, sets, Gary Bradley, costumes, Nick Diaz, lights and sound with Katie Scibelli as production manager. The show premiered at the American Stage Company in New Jersey in 1995 and in the middle of a performance, a woman in the audience couldn’t help but blurt out, “This is my life! and from that moment on, the creators knew they were onto something.
The long-running off-Broadway show has had over 5,000 performances at the Westside Arts Theater. The musical has been performed in over 250 cities around the world. And on top of its huge success, the Off-Broadway production was the site of 50 marriage proposals.
Ghostlight Players will present Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy “Crimes of the Heart,” directed by Mimi McMann and from May 19-29.
The performance schedule for “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Change Now,” is Thursday, April 21 at 8 p.m.; Friday April 22 at 8 p.m.; Saturday April 23 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday April 24 at 3 p.m.
