Jason Isbell, Japanese Breakfast, Margo Price and more join Wilco on stage for a live performance of “California Stars”
In October 2021, Chicago rock band Wilco was one of three groups that were inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, joining Lucinda Williams and Alejandro Escovedo. Now, more than two months later, fans can see this festival, as well as the musical performances of Wilco and others. Consequence Sound reports that on January 8, PBS aired highlights from this festival for an hour.
In honor of their induction, Wilco spared no effort to assemble an impressive cast of guest stars for their performance, especially their 1998 track “California Stars”. In their rendition of the hit, the rock band hosted Rosanne Cash, Jason Isbell, Japanese Breakfast, Terry Allen, Sheila E. and others on stage. Interested fans can watch this performance of “California Stars” below.
Other highlights of the night for Wilco included the cover of the band’s “Sky Blue Sky” by singer-songwriter Bill Callahan. Rosanne Cash, who previously won the award in 2017, had the honor of inducting the Chicago group into the Hall of Fame and commending them as “workers of the heart in the song tower, with a skin thick and an open heart ”.
Wilco is set to perform at Beach Road Weekend in August alongside artists including Beck, the Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell and many more. Additionally, the group has their own destination concert, Sky Blue Sky, scheduled for January 17-21.
