New Orleans Halloween Weekend Musical Highlights: My Morning Jacket by Ronnie Lamarque | Music

For the second Halloween in a row, there will be no voodoo music + arts experience in City Park. But New Orleans’ arenas, theaters and nightclubs will take over with a plethora of shows. Highlights of the big weekend:

THURSDAY October 28

Modern jazz saxophonist Clarence johnson iii faces his corner stone quartet at Snug Harbor at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Johnson and his company will likely feature original material as well as selections from John Coltrane, Sidney Bechet and Grover Washington Jr. Tickets are $ 30.

Harmonica player Johnny sansone and guitarist Jean Fohl team up at 7 p.m. at Chickie Wah Wah, followed by Colin Davis and the Night People at 9 pm

The Tease flower the burlesque troupe presents two Halloween-themed shows at Tipitina’s at 7 pm and 9:30 pm Seating in the lounge is available; tickets start at $ 20.

East Texas Outlaw Country Singer-Songwriter Zoe Wetzel plugs into the Fillmore New Orleans.

Alternative rock band Blue october hits the House of Blues.

Horace Trahan & Ossun Express are featured for Zydeco Night at the Rock ‘N’ Bowl.

FRIDAY October 29

In a Halloween tradition that dates back, intermittently, to 1997, the jam group Georgia Generalized panic is spending a long weekend at the Lakefront Arena at the University of New Orleans. Guitarist / singer John bell, keyboardist John “JoJo” Hermann, guitarist Jimmy herring, percussionist Domingo S. Ortiz, bass player Dave Schools and drummer Duane Trucks three consecutive Friday nights kick off. All tickets are general admission for standing only on the floor or unreserved seats in the stands. Three-night passes are available.

kentucky rapper Jack harlow scored a decisive success in 2020 with “Whats Poppin”. But he reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts for the first time this month via his article on Lil Nas X’s single “Industry Baby.” Harlow brings his Crème de la Crème tour to the House of Blues, with opening acts Baby ray and My life.

Galactic with singer Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph connects to Tipitina for her traditional Halloween weekend from 11 p.m. Tickets cost $ 38.

Big Freedia, boyfriend and HaSizzle open the Théâtre de Toulouse in the former home of One Eyed Jacks at 615 Toulouse St. in the French Quarter.

Jank configuration is at dba at 8 p.m., followed by Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers at 11 p.m.

Big Sam’s funky nation goes off at dba at the Palace Market, the outdoor area across from Frenchmen Street from the original Showtime dba is at 7pm; tickets cost $ 25.






Like a seasoned pro, Ronnie Lamarque, 71, sang and sang pop classics during his November 2017 concert.

In a concession to the Halloween festivities on Frenchmen Street, Snug Harbor is deviating from its regular schedule. Instead of two shows from 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., Walter “Wolfman” Washington and the Roadmasters will trigger at 10 a.m. and play after 1 a.m. Additionally, the wall separating the Snug Harbor Music Room from the front bar will be removed, opening up all the space for a party. Tickets cost $ 15.

As a veteran of Voodoo Fest, the Kentucky alternative rock band My morning jacket is no stranger to New Orleans on Halloween weekend. Without Voodoo this weekend, My Morning Jacket will move to the Orpheum Theater with the opening act of Bedouine. Tickets start at $ 45.

Generalized panic completes its three-night booth at UNO Lakefront Arena. For the Halloween finale, expect costumes, surprise covers and, in all likelihood, surprise guests.

Following Panic’s show, keyboardist John “JoJo” Hermann rushes over to Tipitina to sit down with the bassist George Porter Jr. & Runnin ‘Pardners, which kicks off a special late night Halloween “funk you to death” concert at 11pm. Tickets cost $ 30.

Indian funk band Mardi Gras Cha Wa is out at dba at the Palace Market at 7 p.m. Garage rock band powered by Sax Morning 40 Federation meets indoors at dba at 10 p.m. ($ 20).

Quintron and Miss Pussycat chair a Halloween show at the Théâtre de Toulouse.

Rapper Wave Rod made waves on TikTok and YouTube in 2019 with the single “Heart on Sleeve”. He’s making the front page of the Fillmore New Orleans for a postponed date on his Soulfly tour.
