Seventeen Named Highest-Ranking K-pop Act On 2021 IFPI World Album Sales Chart

Each year, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry calculates the best performing artists, singles and albums in the world. Seventeen made it into the top 10 of IFPI’s 2021 World Album Sales Ranking and 2021 World Artist Ranking. In doing so, the K-pop group became the K-pop act the ranked highest to appear on IFPI’s 2021 World Album Sales Chart.

Seventeen appeared twice on the IFPI World Album Sales Chart

The IFPI announced the placements for the 2021 Global Album Sales Chart on March 1. Adele’s Scrapbook 30 ranked at the top of the world music charts.

Seventeen EP Attack placed at No. 3 on the IFPI World Album Sales Chart 2021 and the group’s EP Your choice was ranked eighth.

Following the publication of the table, IFPI wrote, “The global album sales chart highlights the continued importance of Asia, especially physical album sales, with K-Pop stars BTS (#4) and SEVENTEEN ( which were twice in the chart at No. 3 and No. 7) prominently, while the Japanese group’s debut studio album Snow Man Snow Madness S1 charted at No. 9.”

The K-pop group also appeared on IFPI’s 2021 Global Artist Chart

On February 24, IFPI released the Global Artist Chart 2021 ranking. BTS topped the chart, winning the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year award. Seventeen ranked 9th in the standings.
