University Players, Bloomington Playwrights Projects organize auditions for “Modern”

University Players and Bloomington Playwrights Project team up to produce the musical “Modern”.

“This is a huge opportunity for the students to work with a professional company on a promising musical,” University Players said on Instagram.

The story follows a group of Amish teens as they begin their Rumspringa, a time when Amish teens enjoy greater personal freedom. As they endure the modern world for the first time, they will reflect on their faith and family life.

People can submit their virtual auditions until November 1. They will be required to submit a 16- to 32-bar piece in the style of their choice as well as a one-minute contemporary comedy or drama monologue, according to the University Players website. Virtual reminders will take place after the hearings.

The script, the score and other information about the audition are on College Player Website.

Rehearsals will begin on January 11 and last until early February. The “modern” performances will take place from February 4 to 19. There will be a preview on Thursday February 3 while the rest of the shows will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, depending on the Posting of college players’ Instagram ad.
