Crow Canyon expansion project underway

Crow Canyon Widening Project

Image: Design simulation, east of El Capitan Drive / Tahiti Drive

Construction of the Crow Canyon Road Widening Project between Alcosta Boulevard and St. George Road has begun and will continue through fall 2023.

During construction, we encourage drivers to use alternative routes like Dougherty Road, Bollinger Canyon Road and Alcosta Boulevard for faster travel. There will be a construction speed limit of 30 MPH enforced along Crow Canyon Road within the construction zone and travel will be limited to one (1) lane in each direction.

This road widening work is a requirement of the Dougherty Valley Settlement Agreement and is being funded by proponent funds allocated specifically for this project. The project will construct an additional traffic lane in each direction of Crow Canyon Road between Alcosta Boulevard and St. George Road.

In addition to the new lanes, the project includes improved pedestrian facilities, such as: ADA improvements, consolidation of crosswalks, and conversion of the north side sidewalk into a spacious walking path. Widened bike lanes with buffers and conflict zone green strips will be installed throughout the project to provide additional delineation between vehicles and cyclists. New dynamic, drought-tolerant landscaping will be installed to improve pavement characteristics. Updated traffic lights and streetlights, featuring the latest equipment and technology, will replace the old traffic lights and existing lighting. The existing lanes will be repaved at the same time as the widening to provide a new smooth and durable pavement.

The end of the project is scheduled for fall 2023.
